When my daughter Jazzy, (her real name is Jasmine) was a little girl she received a bead set for Christmas. I really liked those cute little stretchy bracelets she was wearing. I asked her to show me how to do it and, voila! That was it! A passion was born. Life began again. The birds started singing. A rainbow developed in the sky! I am alive! I am now a self-taught beader. Ta-Daaaa! I have learned through trial and error. I am inspired by other successful jewelry designers and businesses right here on Etsy! I have learned through different internet web sites, magazines, information given out in local hobby shops. I have taken 1 formal class with my Mom, Doris who also enjoys making earrings and bracelets! There is more learning to come! Beading is my passion and takes up less space then wreath making (my previous hobby)! I can spend days-on-end creating! I am really jazz'n it with Jazzy!
And still, I am busy being thankful for my skills and talents. I am also busy being a wife, handling my duties for my church, and being a mom with my youngest 6, and the eldest 34. I go up to the landing of the 2nd floor of my home and start the process of beading. I have a small space, but a space well used. My shelves are stocked with supplies kept in clear plastic shoe boxes with blue and white tops. Some beads probably come from the ends of the earth. My Aunt Gloria has supplied me with exotic beads acquired from her yearly foreign travels. She also taught me how to make pins from eyeglasses. My tools await me! I grab them after laying out the desired design, going back and forth, picking and choosing different colors of beads, sizes and shapes, for the best possible outcome. I commence at my desk creating strongly visible jewelry art, some pieces fused with expressing ideas or feelings of American culture. These pieces are fun to wear, and are usually four piece jewelry sets. I also love to decorate key card reels. Sometimes you will find an assortment of individual earrings and bracelets. I am truly blessed. You can see the love I have for this craft from the energy, time, and investment poured into Jazz’n Gail jewelry designs. One day my niece Ania visited me, and she said, "Aunt Gail, you're still playing with those beads"? Yes, Ania! I am still playing with those beads, being as jazzy as ever! Love you all, and you be jazzy too! Find something you love! Thanks for coming to my shop! Jazz it up!
